Graduate Certificate

A Graduate Certificate is an intense educational program designed to enhance skills and knowledge in targeted areas. This qualification typically consists of four courses and can be completed within a single semester full-time study.

In some disciplines, such as law or business, graduate certificates serve as stepping stones towards higher qualifications like a Graduate Diploma or Master’s Degree. These pathways allow students who have already received professional recognition, vocational trning, relevant work experience, or demonstrated expertise in their field to advance their learning.

Graduate Diploma

Following the foundation ld by a Graduate Certificate, the Graduate Diploma deepens or broadens knowledge within your chosen discipline. This program usually comprises eight courses and can be completed in two semesters equivalent to one academic year of full-time study.

Master’s Degree by Coursework

A Master's degree is an advanced educational credential that fosters expertise and skill development specific to a professional field. The duration required for completion ranges from one to two years full-time. This program may require prior study in the same discipline or offer opportunities for career transitions.

In contrast, a Master’s Degree by Coursework involves studying core modules alongside elective choices. This format contrasts with a Research-based Master’s degree which necessitates an indepent research project culminating in a scholarly thesis.

Higher Degrees by Research Master’s or PhD

A Higher Degree by Research HDR is a supervised research program that demands original, innovative contributions to knowledge within your area of interest. This includes Master's and Doctoral programs.

Research Master degrees require substantial contributions through advanced study and the creation of academic works in specialized fields. Doctoral degrees expect more significant innovations in knowledge discovery through rigorous research culminating in a thesis.

The completion times for doctoral programs typically range from three to four years, while Master’s programs can take approximately 18 months to two years full-time. Part-time students will ext these timelines by doubling the durations.

HDRs may incorporate additional coursework. However, all HDR programs must include a major research component which comprises at least two-thirds of the total requirement for completion.
