To Our Colleagues,
On January 24, 2023, U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona announced the launch of Rse the Bar: Lead the World initiative during his speech at the U.S. Department of Education's headquarters. In this address, Secretary Cardona outlined priorities to improve academic performance for all students and better equip America in global competition.
In today’s fast-paced economy, higher education credentials are crucial for success. We m to ensure that every student graduates high school with a clear career pathway. Hence, we must not merely recover but strive to set new standards, emphasized Secretary Miguel Cardona.
To accomplish this vision, the U.S. Department of Education has launched the Unlocking Career Success initiative in collaboration with the Departments of Labor and Commerce. This inter-agency effort ints to bridge gaps between high school, college education, and professional careers by 2030. The goal is for all young people to graduate from secondary school having achieved one or more of these four objectives:
1 earned College Credit through dual enrollment programs,
2 acquired industry-recognized credentials that demand current skills,
3 engaged in pd work-based learning opportunities, and
4 received career guidance.
To facilitate this transformation, the Department has developed a new website filled with case studies, best practices from national leaders, guiding questions for all stakeholders, and practical tools tlored specifically for educators.
