I think a lot of people get discouraged, says Sophia Yoo, another Pathways participant now pursuing her Ph.D. at Princeton's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. They limit themselves based on one particular aspect where they feel weak.
The program has evolved to cater to international students like Shambhavi Suryanarayanan, who joined the 2020 virtual iteration from Chenn, India. Studying mathematics and statistics at Indian Institute of Science Education and Research before deciding to apply for engineering graduate programs, Suryanarayanan benefited from connecting with other Pathways participants who shared similar academic transitions.
