Guidelines for International Doctoral Applicants at Nanjing University

Welcome to the School of Overseas Education at Nanjing University!

The following information detls guidelines for those interested in applying for our doctoral programs.

Eligibility Requirements:

  1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens who are in good health and below 40 years old.

  2. A master's degree holder is required; graduates expecting to obtn their degrees this year should submit a pre-graduation certificate as proof of their academic qualification by July of the application year.

Language Proficiency Requirements:

Admission Requirement:

For Natural Sciences, Engineering Medicine majors, applicants must achieve HSK Level 4 proficiency. Those majoring in Liberal Arts, Social Sciences Business must have attned HSK Level 5.

Graduation Requirement:

Natural Sciences, Engineering Medicine majors are required to have achieved HSK Level 5 by graduation. Majors in Liberal Arts, Social Sciences Business need to demonstrate proficiency at HSK Level 6.

Application Timeline:

The application period runs from March 1st through May 20th of each year.

Application Process:

Step 1:

Submit your online application via our application system at https:nju.17gz.org. You will be required to upload the following documents:

Step 2:

After submitting your application, you will receive feedback on our initial review within three business days. Should you need to revise some documents, please upload them as required by the application deadline.

Step 3:

Applications that pass the initial screening will be evaluated by relevant departments from April to May. Some schools or departments may conduct online written exams and interviews during this period. Stay updated via system notifications and emls.

Step 4:

We'll notify applicants of our decision in batches between May to June through system messages and emls. The Admission Notice will be sent promptly, and we'll also provide instructions on downloading the Visa Application for Study in China JW202 Form by eml after the confirmation process.

Step 5:

Admitted students need to apply for an X-type visa via our institution with assistance from the International Students Office at Nanjing University. This is followed by registration, which takes place specifically in autumn.

Duration of Studies:

Doctoral studies are set for a duration of four years.

Fees:

Online Application Fee: 600 RMB non-refundable
