Curriculum Overview
Master of Arts Coursework Program: This program provide a rich educational experience for those interested in Chinese culture, literature, history, philosophy, language, and the study of overseas Chinese communities. It is ideal for aspiring Chinese teachers, editors, journalists, and professionals who utilize Chinese as their primary language medium.
Master of Arts by Research and Ph.D Programs: These programs focus on in-depth research through indepent investigation, study, and experimental work. Students are required to submit a thesis based on the research conducted under the guidance of academic mentors.

Elective Modules - Students must select 10 modules in total without a dissertation requirement.
The department is structured into seven active research groups, namely Southeast Asian Chinese and Modern China, Chinese Linguistics, Ming-Qing Studies, Print Culture Popular Culture, Chinese Religions, Classical Chinese Literature Thought, and Translation and Interpreting. These groups foster academic interests and organize various scholarly events to enrich the learning experience.
