By leveraging data from most US institutions that participate in the National Student Clearinghouse, our research publications serve as a guiding tool for policymakers and business leaders alike.
Key Publication Series:
High School Benchmarks: This series provides current insights into graduation rates, enrollment trs, persistence, and completion outcomes among high school graduates entering higher education. The data is updated annually in September.
Example: In 2021, the persistence rate from first to second year of college for students from low-income schools increased by 3 percentage points compared to previous years.
Persistence Retention: Focusing on early success indicators like first-year retention rates, this series analyzes trs across different institutions and demographics. Updated in June each year with findings from the latest cohort's enrollment data.
Example: For fall 2022 starters, the persistence rate was reported at 76.5, an increase of 0.8 percentage points over the previous academic year.
Some College, No Credential: This series explores educational trajectories of individuals who have not completed a credential after starting postsecondary education and are no longer enrolled. Updated annually in June with data as of July.
Example: As of July 2022, there were approximately 36.8 million Americans in this category under the age of 65, marking a 2.9 increase from the previous year.
Current Term Enrollment Estimates: This series provides real-time enrollment estimates for each spring term since 2017, segmented by institution types, student groups, and major fields.
Example: National enrollment increased by 447,000 students from the prior term.
Tracking Transfer: Analyzing six-year bachelor's degree completion rates among transfer students transitioning from two- to four-year institutions. Updated annually with data for a specified cohort e.g., fall 2016 starters.
Example: Approximately 15.3 of community college starters in the 2016 cohort who transferred earned their BA within six years.
Undergraduate Degree Earners: Insights into credential earners from the most recent academic year, broken down by demographic and educational profiles.
Transfer Progress: A series examining transfer enrollment patterns, mobility, and progress among students during and after the pandemic era.
Postsecondary Data Partnership Insights: This report focuses on metrics like credit completion ratios CCR and accumulation rates CAR, offering early indicators of student progression towards degree attnment.
Completing College: Provides an overview of national trs in college completion, including pathways taken by students toward earning degrees or certificates within 6-8 years after enrollment.
College Closures Impact Analysis: In response to COVID-19 disruptions, this series offers rapid insights into trs like transfer losses and mobility patterns among institutions.
